Making change in your career

When I work with clients who want to change jobs, or even careers, I first ask them to tell me about their current role.

Reflect - what is it that you dislike about your job? This could be the work, the commute, your colleagues, or your boss, for example.

Dream - if you could wave a magic wand and wake up in a new job tomorrow - what would it look like? Where would it be? What would your day look like? Would you work alone or in a team?

Motivation - what are your values? What motivates you? Do you want to be recognised? To help people? To work for a big company or small independent? Or for yourself?

Change - can you change something about your current reality? Could you take a career break, or work part-time?
How about asking to work from home one or two days a week, or work in a different team?

Whatever your answers, they’re sure to give you some insight, awareness, and help you think about your next steps.
